Cooperation Program between
Latin America, the Caribbean and
the European Union on drug policy

Barbados

We support Barbados in the implementation of its National Drug Plan.

This assistance has been channelled through three regional initiatives on demand reduction and the fight against drug trafficking.

How do we support the country?

Drug demand reduction
  • Participation in a position paper on stigma and gender perspective in the policies, actions and strategies for the comprehensive care and treatment of women and other vulnerable groups who use drugs.

Strengthening of police and prosecutorial investigation systems
  • Through the Implementing Agency for Crime and Security, CARICOM IMPACS, Barbados strengthened its capacities in asset prevention in the fight against drug trafficking, and on synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances (NPS).
Fight against drug trafficking and organised crime
  • As part of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF), the country has participated in an initiative to strengthen capacities for preventing money laundering and drug trafficking, and to improve analysis in areas of emerging risk.
